  • Helmer L. Bjerke of Hot Springs died Sunday, January 29, 2017 at the age of 87.

     

    He is preceded in death by his Parents: Helmer and Myrtle Bjerke, Sister: Marlene Rotvold (Ronnie), Brother: Reuben Bjerke and his wife, Gloria, Brother-In-Law: E. J. Guedry, Father-In-Law: Earnest J. Guedry, Mother-In-Law: Elma “Sally” Weiley, Great-Granddaughter: Eliyah Kate Hymel

     

    He is survived by his wife, Elma Joyce Bjerke, Children: Steven Bjerke (Alicia) of Orangevale, CA and Renee Bjerke Hymel (Keith) of St.Amant, LA, Brother: Wayne Bjerke (Maureen) of Gardner, ND, Brother: Dallas Bjerke (Irene) of Bloomington, MN as well as six Grandchildren and eleven Great-Grandchildren.

     

    Mr. Bjerke was a United States Navy Korean war veteran. He retired from Ormet Corporation located in Burnside, LA. He was a proud member of the Roadrunner RV group and traveled all over the U.S. He loved being on the water and always had a boat. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed by all.

    Visitation will be held at CedarVale Funeral Home on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 9:00 A.M. with services beginning at 10:30 A.M. Rev. Warren Freiheit presiding.

    Our thoughts, prayers and hugs are with you. I wish I could be there tomorrow. I enjoyed visiting with Uncle Lee every time I was lucky enough to see him. He was such a good man and the twinkle in his eye at times is something I will remember. May memories comfort you. Kristi
